Welcome to Electric Vehicles Australia
We aim to promote the use of electric vehicles and create public awareness in Australia.
Your mobile phone runs on electricity. So does your toaster, and your hairdryer. In fact, it is likely that your car is the only thing you own that doesn't run on electricity. Electricity just makes sense. You can get it from your power points at home and when used, it doesn't produce any dirty exhaust like a petrol engine. So ask yourself: why doesn't my car run on electricity?
Electric cars aren't a new idea, nor are they a science experiment. In the early days of the automobile, electric cars were actually much more popular than petrol cars, the reason being that they were easier to operate, more convenient to refuel and gave a much more refined driving experience. Even the first taxis were electric. Modern electric cars still have these advantages over petrol cars to this day. It was only when development was focused on petrol powered cars and intercity highways began to be built when electric cars proved inferior and eventually vanished from the market. But nowadays thanks to new battery technology, similar to that used in laptops, electric cars are able to once again compete with petrol cars.
So why should one drive an electric car?
